The orchid production is carried out in Jardim Orquídea Santo António, a branch of Jardim Orquídea. There, the plants and cut orchids are cultivated under the ideal luminosity condition
s on Madeira Island.
As the orchids are grown without requiring any artificial heating and enjoying much cool ventilation, they take longer to develop.
However, they are relatively more hardy and resistant than the plants grown in normal greenhouses in Central Europe.
Withered orchid exhibits are returned to Santo António. All plants which have fresh buds are returned to the Orchid Exhibition providing us with a wide variety of blossoming orchids throughout the year.
In Jardim Orquídea you are welcome to visit our small coffee shop on the terrace. From here you may enjoy a breathtaking view over Funchal.
